Stitch and Bitch Sunday

Mary Clymer, owner of Happy Delusions and her new poster
Just went you thought the weekends were for housecleaning - along comes a monthly Sunday event that will get you out of the house for a couple of hours and into the company of crafty, creative gals. Enter Stitich and Bitch to be held from 1- 5 pm this Sunday at Happy Delusions in the DTR.

If you knit, crochet, just wanna get around some cool crafters or need a bitchin' outlet - this is your soon to be home away from home. Come on down and meet some like minded ladies (or gents, as everyone is welcome), unravel your skeins and let down your proverbial hair. This is the very first meet-up, so come on down and add your bit of sass.

Deb of Girlfriend's, the cool antique and gift shop next door to Mary Clymer's Happy Delusions, has a colorful array of stray balls of yarn that need homes, so if you don't have any fiber to play with, you can just run next door and grab a handful.

If you don't do any of the above crafty activities, but need a reason to have a cool, handknit hat to keep the chill March winds at bay, purchase a cool Cupcake Hat by madlycreative, for sale at Happy Delusions. Support your local artisans and look supersweet while doing it.

Dog's best friend

You know me - love the wee bit of knittery. Especially when it concerns yarn and dogs at the same time.

A bee's life

Cross pollination is ever so important - even when the flower in question is a little - well, yarny, shall we say...

Oh my, what a pretty bit of yarnbombing

I do love a bit of knitting ingenuity. Adds a bit of whimsy to the landscape, and tends to bring a smile to the face of anyone who happens upon it.

Cupcake Heaven

When cupcakes are involved, it's hard not to be happy. I recently tried a new flavor (for me!) of cupcake heaven at the Common Ground - Boston Cream Pie, and though I ate the whole thing in one easy sitting and was flying on a sugar high for the next hour, I would go back for another in a heart beat. Crystal, another fav barrista of Renton's best, suggested this particular cupcake - and the girl did not steer me wrong. Go get one - I am being far to generous even sharing them with you all, so take advantage of my moment of weakness.

For those of you who like to work for your baked pleasure, you can knit a delicate morsel from this pattern here. When you are through, just set that down , and go get yourself one that won't give you a hair ball if you attempt ingesting it. Then, send me a picture - because I love it when people knit cupcakes. It's the second best thing to eating them.

Dearly Departed

I have a story - the story of a poor, drunken squirrel who met his demise on the streets of Renton. You might have remembered my earlier posting about him - alcohol was probably the cause - a common answer to many worries when dealing with our present times, but so dangerous for some - like our friend.

Our brother has been with us now, on the sidewalk where we all live, for a few days now. People remark on him - go out of their way to include a visitation to his above ground gravesite and pay their condolences. You may be sad upon reading this, not so much for the long gone squirrel, but for the many Rentonites that consider this an outing and topic of interest

What I am at a loss for words about is why the drunken corpse of a squirrel can be befriended and beloved in our downtown community, but that the wonderful Knit Up that beautifully graced a tree on S. Third Street had to be taken down in less than a day of it's existence.

You can weigh in on this if you want - art is in the eyes of the beholder - and roadkill is looking pretty spiffy today in his hand knit scarf!

Yarn as Art

Where's the new yarn art installation - can you spot it? Be on the lookout for this piece of Knit Graffiti in the city - chicks with needles and crochet hooks - and they aren't afraid to use them!

Pineapple Upside Down at the Common Ground

You know I love to bake them - and now I have my own line of hats to dine out and eat them in. This is a delicious Common Ground Coffee and Cupcakes strawberry delicacy with my lovely model wearing my very own Cupcake Hat (adult size for the child within all of us), the pattern for which you can find here for free.
You need to scamper over there to Common Ground soon - they have a new flavor of cupcake - Pineapple Upside Down Cake, and within the next two weeks will be hosting a little party to celebrate their second year in our little burg. Hang (the owner) and Crystal were there today, giggling over our cupcake shennanigans - just the sort of people we like - they understand why you would need a hat to match your favorite desert.
