What I saw today in Renton

It's just the little things - a colorful blanket out to dry, the color of a rose or the shape of the bush - that captures the imagination.

Picture Perfect

This is Alice and her basset, Buddy - and this is exactly as I found them Sunday afternoon. On the porch, book in hand, two contented companions in the sun's warmth as ever you will find.

Alice and her husband, Ben moved into the old Dime house (if you have lived in the area for any length of time, that family name will resonate with you) 12 years ago and began putting in hard, hard work to make their home the beauty that you see today. There has been a house on this plot of land since 1908. This version is not that old, but the original was probably much smaller with some out buildings in the back. A piece of North Renton history - and just a lovely place to lit your eyes upon on this warmly welcomed sunny afternoon.

North Renton of yesteryear

Posted by Picasa

I photographed these today - and thought of my grandmother's house, with the detached garage and a little alleyway in the back, where you could go to play. The blue metal spokes in the second photo are all that is left of a baby carriage. The tree speaks for itself.
