Nothing says Spring like a burst of color to update your look or that of your home. This cool brooch was found at the
Antique Country Station 918 S.Third St. (425)235-6449 and was a bargain at $18. I would love to be seen wearing this. Pins have made their way back
in, and the seashore inspired style is
there.

Fresh dots of color in the kitchen will spark up your interior and your mourning mood, and these sets have got me heading for my pin money. You can find them at
Black Chow Antiques 826 S.Third St. (425)-235-9229.

Whimsical accessories always turn my head. This bag is $28 at
Cedar Chest Antiques 916 S. Third (425)271-0511

Early flocks of lilac and some of the best antique shopping for wonderful little finds,
Girlfriend's Antiques, Gifts and Floral 920 S. Third St. (425)687-2778 always is on my list of places to stop.

Jukebox from 1950, still playing the original 45's loaded into it and purring like the well run music machine that it is. Found this baby at

I love the look of
Retro Christmas. The feel of eras gone by and the appeal of having a home that doesn't look like the local mall threw up on my tree or mantel. Dave of
Cedar Chest Antiques on
South Third Street has these lovely pink tinsel tabletop trees for $9.95 that he found. Sue me, but I love them.

Here it is in silver - isn't that just a must have?!
St. Charles Place Antiques just around the corner on
Wells Ave. S. has some lovely vintage finds, but I am a sucker for a really good jolly guy in a red suit. It's those rosy red checks and the gleam in his eye that get me every time.
Black Chow Antiques, on the corner of Wells Ave. S. and S. Third
, has the best displays, and this time of the year its no different. These vintage glass ornaments are about $4 a piece and are a steal at that price.
Hanging the stockings with care - these are hand quilted and only $9 a piece.

You could win me over with an old school lit
Santa any day. This is the way we were meant to decorate - but then, I am crazy, so take it all with a big gulp of cookie and just buy me the damn thing.

You remember what fun it was to shop at The Feathered Nest down on South Third Street, don't you? Well,
Melanie and
Sue, the previous owners of that cutely appointed store and
St. Charles Place Antiques around the corner on Wells are joining forces and hosting a
Flea Market. Those folks have a good eye for lovelies and it will be a welcome weekend outing addition to see what they have found for us to
oggle and
ooohhh over. I don't know about you, but I sorely miss The Feathered Nest and Sweet Grass. I bought the best smelling candles and many wonderful gifts for my home decor and for friends from those two establishments. This Flea Market will be a great time to catch up on some much needed shopping.

Cedar Chest Antiques boasts new management, new stock and a new name on the front window. With a soft opening a couple of weeks ago,
Beverly Franklin and
David Olds, recently of the Antique Shopping Mall from around the corner on Wells Ave., have opened new antique shopping digs for themselves. The storefront was home to another antique store prior to this one, but has a much cleaner and uncluttered look to it and there is no mistaking it for the previous shop.
The Antique Mall was one of my favorite shopping haunts when I first came to
Renton, and as I pen this post, my laptop sits on a cute 50's linoleum table with matching chairs that became my first of many purchases from Beverly's previous store. I loved it in there - there were many treasures to be unearthed. The new store still has some of the goodies I grew to love looking at, but is a mite less full of the clutter and clump that are still an endearing featuring of an interesting antique shopping experience for me. Yet, as I
whisked through this morning, David was purchasing some goodies from a client (yes, you can come here to relieve yourself of antiques as well!) and my thought is that more stock will be added in no time.

Remember I told you that Bev and David of
Antique Mall on Wells Street are going to over to a new location, just around the corner on S. Third Street? Well, the word is that they want to start fresh - completely different inventory. The SALE is on - and an auction will be held in June. Hurry/scurry - time for shopping and getting some deals!

Best of Renton for
Antique shopping, and a great stop for looking for unique bits of flair for your home or kitchen -
Antique Country Station. You might recall that the owner, Rod Stewart (nope, he doesn't sing - not professionally, anyways), also won the $500 gift certificate last month to CD Danza - a winning gift certificate that was associated with the Renton Reporter's Best Of Renton as well. Darn - that Rod had a really good month.
After 15 years of operating in that location, you could say that Don and his brother, Ron, are well versed in their field. There are a lot of lovely fancy glass and plate items, but just as many cute and funky vintage finds. It deserves to poked around on a regular basis.

My favorite has to be this sign that hangs in the front window- it is my personal shopping credo for as much of it as I can get away with. Why buy new when you can get something with so much more flavor and individuality from somewhere local. You know it's probably still made better than what is currently available - even with it being on it's second or third reincarnation.
