Sweet little Spring splurges

Nothing says Spring like a burst of color to update your look or that of your home. This cool brooch was found at the Antique Country Station 918 S.Third St. (425)235-6449 and was a bargain at $18. I would love to be seen wearing this. Pins have made their way back in, and the seashore inspired style is there.

Fresh dots of color in the kitchen will spark up your interior and your mourning mood, and these sets have got me heading for my pin money. You can find them at Black Chow Antiques 826 S.Third St. (425)-235-9229.

Whimsical accessories always turn my head. This bag is $28 at Cedar Chest Antiques 916 S. Third (425)271-0511

Early flocks of lilac and some of the best antique shopping for wonderful little finds, Girlfriend's Antiques, Gifts and Floral 920 S. Third St. (425)687-2778 always is on my list of places to stop.

Jukebox from 1950, still playing the original 45's loaded into it and purring like the well run music machine that it is. Found this baby at St.Charles Place Antiques and Restoration 230 Wells Ave.S. (425)226-8427

What I saw today in Renton

This hat peering out on the street full of cars and pedestrians had me laughing - looked like Santa's helpers were already prowling about to see who has been "naughty or nice". Found this bit of fun in front of Rod Stewart's Antique Country Station where he has window full of cool gifts for the taking.

I just love the sentiment behind this sign - new is not always the best, and cool cannot always be equated with where you got the gift or how much you spent. The best gifts of all are the ones that are given with that special person in mind and given with the heart.

As you know - the Downtown Renton Antique Mall has gone to South Third Street and become the Cedar Chest Antiques - so stop on by. They have a lovely window full of holiday treats.

Where to get your lovelies, part 2

Voted Best of Renton for Antique shopping, and a great stop for looking for unique bits of flair for your home or kitchen - Antique Country Station. You might recall that the owner, Rod Stewart (nope, he doesn't sing - not professionally, anyways), also won the $500 gift certificate last month to CD Danza - a winning gift certificate that was associated with the Renton Reporter's Best Of Renton as well. Darn - that Rod had a really good month.

After 15 years of operating in that location, you could say that Don and his brother, Ron, are well versed in their field. There are a lot of lovely fancy glass and plate items, but just as many cute and funky vintage finds. It deserves to poked around on a regular basis.

My favorite has to be this sign that hangs in the front window- it is my personal shopping credo for as much of it as I can get away with. Why buy new when you can get something with so much more flavor and individuality from somewhere local. You know it's probably still made better than what is currently available - even with it being on it's second or third reincarnation.

Easter in Renton

Deb of Girlfriend's Antiques, Gifts and Florals always has her windows done up for all of the holidays. Her windows are a true reflection of the woman herself - fun and full of charm, and always with a bit of interesting "story" attached.
Right next door is the Country Antique Station, and Rod has some adorable signs out to show you just where to look for this year's Happy Easter.

Don't these chairs just look so inviting? I could have shown you the cute painted windows or the gorgeous cupcakes that Crystal has been designing this week for the holiday, but the position and color of these chairs at Common Ground Coffee and Cupcakes just was too good to be true. What unintentional holiday flair!
Next stop, holiday heaven at Cugini's Florist Shop. Fresh scents, vivid colors and an incredible selection of gift possibilities. This is where adults should come to fill their special some one's basket. At least, in my dream world, that's where my Easter Bunny goes to shop!
Finally - a little look at what is cooking up at the old chez Lady P for Easter. I am making chickies - knitting them up by the dozen, currently adding pom-pom allure to them all, for my family and extended family members. It is craftmadness over here and the dash is on to be done in time for the egg hunt on Sunday!!
