World Peace is possible

When mail carrier, Diane, is found petting and cooing over a Pit Bull/French Bull Dog being trained by Mary Headrick, you know that World Peace may indeed be possible.

This amazing thought inspired by Michael, who uttered the title for this blog posting when he saw this gathering take place.

Happiness is in the little things sometimes

Happy Groundhog's Day Renton!

Punxsutawney Phil's 2010 prediction: for the 11th year in a row, Phil saw his shadow this morning and that means, for some anyways, 6 more weeks of winter. Seeing how this has been this area's fairest Winter on record, I say that we are getting off easy.

Cancer gets a Pie in the Face!

Caught this on the fly, yesterday afternoon at our downtown Rainier Safeway - that is right folks, Pie in the Face day at Safeway!
For a mere donation of $5 to the Prostate Cancer Fund, you could "cream" a dedicated Safeway employee. Felt like I was at a good ole high school carnival. Fun and gooey and definitely hilarious.

Sorry for the poor camera quality here - I had to use my phone, and in a hurry! for the pies were starting to fly.
Losing someone to Cancer is no joke - but Safeway is great for soliciting funds in such a light hearted manner. Kudos to you, Safeway and your playfully willing employees!

The Book of Answers

Times are tough - we have all admitted that to ourselves and others within the last couple of months. Sometimes the right answers, the best direction to take, it can be elusive. Enter The Book of Answers. So easy, it's foolproof (?). Just close your eyes, and make a wish - I mean, think of your pressing question and then open the book to the corresponding page. Within seconds, life has become simpler. There, in black and white print, you will find the answer you have been looking for. Maybe even an answer that you didn't ever imagine receiving. Anyone can use this method of clarification when the road to life gets full of rocks and stones and you need to clear the way.

Here is our dear friend and local artist (here), Mike Ferguson, demonstrating his easy technique of divination with the book. Remember, levity is always part of the answer when using the book. I mean, if we can't laugh now - when will we ever be able to?

Unfortunately for all of us - Mike didn't get the "no, you can still stay and live in Renton" answer and it seems that he will have to move to Tacoma. Now, I don't like the book for that - but I can't stand in the way of the fate. Mike, we will all miss you. Please consult the book again - and think of our fair city. Are you sure it's time to leave the place that professes to be "ahead of the curve"? I think Tacoma just has some sort of dome thingy...

Cast away your worries and just "float"

It may still be the first of April, but this boat deal is no hoax. My buddy Fred is downsizing. So here is your chance to make a break for the high seas (not too high, anyways, let's not get carried away now, shall we?) and live the dream. Got spare time cuz ya lost a job or two? Put some elbow grease and a motor into this baby and you are set to take that vacation you always wanted - and now miraculously have all the time in the world to plan. Happy Boating Days are here again! Call us when you get out of the harbor!

(At least Fred didn't just let his craft go adrift in the Puget Sound - Check out this article in the NY Times - amazing!

Need help around the house?

r
When you have seen the last butt crack you can suffer but still need help with your plumbing woes - call (425) MAN -GINA. Manginas are multi-talented. While listening to your boyfriend/husband's lame attempt at a date, they are fixing the sink that he left on the floor in pieces from last weekend's "fix it" job. Mangina's compliment you on your choice of wall color and know how to paint the trim. Don't subject yourself to hiring outside of the gene pool any longer - call the girl's best friend, your local Mangina.
