Late Night Swim This Week

Last day of real summer, August 31st. At least, that is the way it feels like to me. This is the last week that the Henry Moses Aquatic Center will be open until next year. Sigh and deep sense of sadness. You have two more glorious evenings of late night swimming - tonight, Monday, from 8pm to 10 pm - its called TWILIGHT SWIM. Next and last chance will be this Wednesday evening at the same hours.

Daytime swimming, outside of the morning Lap Swims from 6 am till 8 am, will be Leisure Swim from 12 noon till 3:30 pm and then from 4:00 pm till 7:30 pm. You have until Closing Day which will be September 7th.

Renton Annual Art Show

Last night was the opening gathering for the Renton Annual Art Show that will be open free to the public for the next three days. I am going to just wet your appetite and show you a handful of goodies. Feel inspired to further explore the rest for yourself.
Art - we all need to heed the call and include it in our daily diet.

Why, Brit is ON that council - how could this be? All entries were judged with only numbers assigned to them - Brit won this fine award fair and square. Congratulations, Brit! It's a beauty!

Playful Preschoolers

Renton Community Center Preschoolers had a morning date at the Renton Public Library downtown, after which they made a run for it to the nearby playground. Joyful sight in downtown Renton yesterday.

Garage Sale Season Begins

The season of good weather starts the season of cleaning and subsequently, Garage Sales. Your old junk becomes a treasure for someone else. If you are like me, I downsize just to make room for the new treasures I am certain I am unable to live without. Ahhh - the cycle of shopping bliss, when you can get a bag full of goodies with just a hand full of dollars and some change.

This weekend, get ready for two great Garage Sale opportunities. One lesser known sale is an annual event over on Garden Ave. North. The family at 223 Garden Ave. N. have a yearly garage sale that reaches nearly epic proportions, as they plan year round for the event, the proceeds which go to help raise their handicapped grandchild. So big, the neighbor's house will be used this year as well. This begins Saturday, April 25 - but you might consider swinging by today to see if there is any action earlier than that.

The second is the Annual Community Garage Sale at the Renton Community Center. This goes from 9 am - 1 pm on this Saturday and hosts table after table of goodies and of course, entrance is free. You never know what new, slightly used, vintage must-haves you might find. With this good weather (maybe? still holding?), what an excellent morning outing it will be. Support a local barrista (Mike's Liberty Cafe or the the still in business Jet City come to mind ) and with your caffeine securely in hand, go and get your shopping groove on!
