Early Morning Abstractions

Live, Work, Play - Renton, shunned by many over the years for being at the wrong end of the lake, is one great place to live. Just take a look at my early morning abstraction distractions.

A little leftover Spring showers.
Green grows everywhere here.

Flora and Fauna of Renton

Flora and Fauna in Renton - amidst the colorful skies and warmth that sometimes also comes with our Pacific Northwest fall season, I saw some great views in Renton yesterday. Here are just a few to share with all of you.

The Great Blue Heron was perched on a log in front of Jones Park on Wells Street for all to see - oblivious to the cries of the children and dogs in the nearby lawns. Usually seen later in the day, this is a common haunt for this bird should you ever want a closer look for yourselves.

Bringing back childhood memories, this very fuzzy, very fat caterpillar was out for a stroll on the Cedar River Trail.

Though the most obvious of fall foliage would be the russet and red hues, these leaves are quietly turning from spring green to gold.

Some wildlife is better off left alone - like Frank Sutter here, sporting a homemade T-shirt that his daughter made expressly for him. Since all and sundry saw the warning sign well in advance of his arrival, we were well prepared.

Today at the Jimi Hendrix Memorial

The task this a.m. - hike up Cemetery Hill (yes, from the DTR on foot) and take photos of Jimi Hendrix's grave. Weather forecast for the week - it's gonna get hot again. This means awesome blue skies for great photo taking but definitely not late afternoon walking weather. These are just some of the few (ahem, many) photos I took. Wanna photo card? Head to the lobby of the Renton Historical Museum and they will be there on sale by tomorrow. I saved some great images just for them. $3.50 a pop - can't beat the price, and you know you have always wanted to go and check out our little gem of a museum.

Greenwood Memorial Park
350 Monroe Ave. N.E.
Renton WA 98056

(Turn left at the McDonald's on Monroe and then on the left to the Southeast is the grave, you can't help but see it - there is parking right there in the lot at the cemetery.)

Renton Historical Museum
235 Mill Ave S
Renton, WA 98057-2133
(425) 255-2330
The museum also gives out directions to the meandering public in search of Jimi. Hence, the cool photo cards for the fans.

Seahawk fever in full color

The construction site for the new Savings and Loan building on Wells Ave.S. is very - well, decorative. Couple of days ago, the cute and colorful umbrellas with the "Just Married" sign (scroll down and have a look yourself, here on the ole Picaroon). Today - Seahawk Fever. Training Camp posters for the football team are seen in many windows about town - but some, well, they choose to take things a bit further. So here we are, a little #12 photo layout, as seen today in the DTR.

Antique Country Station on South Third Street flying it's colors proudly.

Common Ground Coffee and Cupcakes on South Third St. where sweet frosting and football fever never tasted so good together.
